For our first pick, we wanted to choose something special and something that broke the laws of physics, and we decided on the Bugatti Veyron.
The Bugatti Veyron is a car that many thought impossible to create, with even Top Gear mocking Volkswagen for being foolish when it was first announced. Volkswagen announced that they'd make the car well over 1000 HP, which was supposed to be the most powerful road-legal car ever produced. Bugatti named the Veyron in honor of the racing driver Pierre Veyron.
At 155 mph, they stopped classifying hurricanes; 155 mph is a category 5, which killed 12,000 Texans in 1900. There is no category six because there would be no one to classify it once it had passed. The Bugatti Veyron travels at a speed of 268 mph, so you would know the forces of nature acting here.
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport produces a staggering 1200 HP from its 8-liter quad-turbo W16 engine and a top speed of 431 kmph(268 mph) even faster than the previous fastest car in the world the Mighty McLaren F1 which had a top speed of 386 kmph(240 mph), it goes from 0 - 100 kmph in just 2.46 seconds, faster than an F1 car and 0 - 300 kmph in 16.7 seconds which is astonishing for a vehicle which weighs 1.9 tons.
To handle all this power, the car comes with a dual-clutch direct-shift 7-speed automatic gearbox, which changes gears in 0.15 seconds. Designed by Formula One engineers in England, this gearbox is faster than the blink of an eye. The car has a total of 10 radiators; it even has a radiator for a radiator, with three radiators dedicated to the engine alone.
At top speed, the car consumes a massive 45,000 liters of air per minute, equivalent to the amount a human breathes in over 4 days. Of course, you cannot drive a car without brakes and to stop this massive car Bugatti has installed a carbon fibre reinforced silicon carbide composite disc brakes which can bring the vehicle from 400 kmph to a standstill in just 10 seconds even though the distance covered will be half a kilometer and also the rear spoiler equipped with the latest Nano technology acts as air brakes.
The car runs on petrol and has a 100L fuel tank, and at top speed, it can empty the whole tank in just 12 minutes, and even the custom Michelin tires made specially for Veyron to put all the power into the road rather than turning it into smoke, run out in just 15 minutes and costs $42,000. At $2.9 million, you're probably thinking that's a lot, but every time Bugatti sells a Veyron, its parent company, Volkswagen, loses a massive $6.4 million.
This is not an everyday car, this is the car for your track day or when you have a lot of money lying around and don’t know what to do, but most importantly this is a car that likes to be driven fast on the highway, on the track and in front of your girls they probably won’t see it but they will hear it. This is something that Bugatti has put its heart and soul into; it’s not just a car, it’s a living, breathing, monstrous beauty.
